The Mule Rule

A mule is the offspring of a female horse and a male donkey. A horse has 64 chromosomes and a donkey 62. The mule has 63. This one chromosome change has a strong influence on the general character traits of the mule. Its demeanor is noticeably patient and the animal is extremely intelligent, gathering the best features of its parents. Ranchers will often place a mule among skittish horses in order to bring a sense of calm to the corral.

As humans, we may share the same number of chromosomes, but we do not share a singular character trait. We carry within us the polarity of high strung or calm behavior. The predominant one expressed depends on the one we allow ourselves to choose.

Choosing serenity and calm comes more readily with understanding who we are at the most fundamental level. We are expressions of the Divine. The degree in which that divinity expresses as us on an individual level expands to the degree of our recognition of our origin. The study of Body, Mind, Spirit connection reveals that we live in a continual stream of consciousness forever and ever expanding. This activity is one of great harmony. What is important to remember is that we do not have to go and create the harmony, we simply allow ourselves to experience its already existing state of being.

As a divine being, we are at liberty to be more of the mule in any given situation. We can be deliberate in choosing calm over anxiousness and worry? We can exercise our free will and breathe into the awareness that divine order surrounds us when circumstances seem to be in a whirlwind of chaos and disruption.

Like the mule, we possess the best features of our Creator. Power, wisdom, love, authority, intelligence – all are a part of our inherent being-ness. We enhance these traits through recognition and right use of them.

The world we aim to reveal – the one where it works optimally for all, is a world that needs more or our collective mule nature.
